Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound ground beef 80/20
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage loose
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon granulated sugar, optional

Instructions

  • Brown ground beef and Italian sausage in a large pot over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and mix together. Increase heat to high just until sauce begins to boil. Reduce heat and maintain a simmer stirring occasionally, for 1-hour minimum or longer, up to 4 hours develops better flavor.
  • Serve over cooked spaghetti.

Notes

Makes enough to dress 1 pound of spaghetti.
