Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled or chopped
  • 1 package ranch dressing mix

Optional Topping:

  • 2 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled or chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). 
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix together all of the dip ingredients until well combined. Pour into a 2-quart baking dish.
  • Bake in a preheated oven, until hot and bubbly, about 20-25 minutes.
  • Top with garnish if using, and serve.

Notes

  1. Crack dip with sausage: You can substitute browned and crumbled sausage for the bacon in the dip if you so desire! This variation has a meatier flavor and less of a crunch.
  2. Other variations: Another twist on this cream cheese dip for crackers involves turning up the heat. Add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper or chili powder, or a handful of green chilies for crack with a kick!
  3. Bacon selection: Really any brand of American style (cured, smoked, and crunchy!) bacon will do. Check out Bacon Scout’s “Types of Bacon” article for more bacon facts! 
  4. Cheese selection: Strongly flavored cheeses are the way to go here. Use an aged sharp cheddar, or experiment with other flavorful options like Monterey Jack and Gouda.
