Ingredients

  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 (12-ounce) bag chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Spray a 9X13 inch baking dish with nonstick baking spray.
  • In a small mixing bowl, lightly beat the eggs (2).

  • In a large mixing bowl, using a hand-held electric mixer, mix together cake mix (1 box), eggs, and melted butter (1/3 cup).

Notes

  1. Tips for spreading the batter: When the dough is mixed it becomes very thick. Use a rubber spatula or your hands with a little bit of butter on them to spread the dough into the baking dish.
  2. Do Not Overmix: Because this recipe is so simple, it’s easy to accidentally overmix the bars. I fold the chocolate chips in rather than use the mixer for this reason.
