Storing + Freezing + Make-Ahead
- How Long Can You Keep This In The Fridge? Slice the leftovers and place them in an airtight container, these chocolate chip cake mix cookie bars can be stored in the fridge for a week.
- Can You Freeze This? Yes. Simply wrap individual slices well (I suggest you hotel wrap it for maximum freshness. Here’s how to do it!) and freeze for up to 4-6 months. To thaw, let sit in the fridge overnight.
- Make-Ahead Tips:Â This chocolate chip cookie bars made with cake mix is so easy to make, but you can bake this ahead of time, this can be kept on the kitchen counter for a day or two. You can also go to the fridge and freezer route.

Tips
- Tips for spreading the batter: When the dough is mixed it becomes very thick. Use a rubber spatula or your hands with a little bit of butter on them to spread the dough into the baking dish.
- Do Not Overmix: Because this cake mix bars is so simple, it’s easy to accidentally overmix the bars. I fold the chocolate chips in rather than use the mixer for this reason.
