Ingredients

  • 12 slices bacon
  • 5 (12-ounce) cans green beans, drained
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 7 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400ºF (204ºC). Set an oven rack in the lower 1/3 of the oven. Line a large-rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Arrange slices of bacon (12) on the baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven until crisp, about 15 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. When cool enough to handle, chop.
  • Reduce oven temperature to 350ºF (177ºC). Lightly butter a 9X13 inch baking dish with butter; set aside.
  • Add green beans (5 cans) and cooked bacon to the prepared baking dish then stir.
  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together brown sugar (2/3 cup), melted butter (1/4 cup), soy sauce (7 teaspoons), garlic powder (1 1/2 teaspoons), and onion powder (1/2 teaspoon) until combined, and brown sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour the sauce over the green beans and bacon.
  • Bake in the oven (temp should be 350ºF (177ºC) for 40 minutes. Toss and serve!

Notes

  1. Bacon: If you prefer, you can dice the raw bacon and fry it in a pan. Once crisp, use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon and set aside.
  2. Liquid: Bake the assembled dish until most of the liquid has evaporated, but they’re not dry.
