- Drain Your Beans: I told you above, but I’ll tell you again: drain your beans! That water the beans come in is a mix of salt, water, and starch, not things you want in your salad. Wash it all off!
- Mango Season: Summer is mango season, but don’t let that stop you from making this salad year-round! I love using frozen mango as a swap for fresh if I can’t find it. Just be sure to drain your thawed mango well to avoid excess liquid!
- Honey: Want an extra flavor KAPOW? Use flavored honey! I love using a lemon honey for this recipe to give a little extra citrus kick.

This salad loves the fridge! When you aren’t eating it, try to store it in there as much as possible — meaning don’t leave it out for hours at a party.

Yes! All of these ingredients play very nicely in the freezer — and if you make a bunch of this salad, you can have up to 1-2 months out of it in the freezer!
To thaw, let it sit in the fridge overnight. You don’t want to microwave it at all so the mango doesn’t break down. Slow and steady!

- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 jalapeno pepper seeded and minced
