Ingredients
1poundground chicken
1cuppanko breadcrumbs
2ouncesMonterey jack or Pepper Jack Cheese shredded1/2 cup
Combine ground chicken (1 pound), panko breadcrumbs (1 cup), cheese (2 ounces), mayonnaise (¼ cup), red onion (2 tablespoons), Worcestershire (1 tablespoon), garlic powder (1 teaspoon), salt (1/2 teaspoon), and black pepper (1/4 teaspoon) in a large bowl using your hands.
Press into four 3/4" thick patties (should be about 4" in diameter). Press your thumb in the center of each patty, creating a divet.
Chill Patties
Arrange the patties on a large plate or small baking sheet. Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 1 day. Season the patties with salt and pepper.
Cook Patties
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil on medium heat, until it shimmers. Add burgers and cook, undisturbed, until a crust begins to form on the bottom of the patty, about 5-6 minutes.
Turn the patties and repeat on the other side. If using cheese, top with cheese. Continue to cook patties until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F, about 5-6 minutes.
Assemble Burgers
Arrange toppings on a platter for the table.
When patties are cooked, add to a split bun and arrange on individual plates or a serving platter. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
More Seasoning: To change the flavor a bit, add some Italian seasoning to the chicken mixture.
Mixing: Do not overmix the meat mixture for a tender patty.
Internal Temperature: For safety reasons, be sure to thoroughly cook the burger. The chicken should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees. Use a meat thermometer or an instant-read thermometer.
Top It! Dress your burger with your favorites like lettuce, tomatoes, sliced red onion, mayonnaise, Dijon, ketchup, BBQ sauce, bacon, avocado, pickles, etc.
