These moist and savory pimento cheese sausage balls are one of my favorites because these little appetizers are crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.
Preheat oven to 375ºF (190ºC). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine uncooked sausage (1 pound), Bisquick (2 cups), heavy cream (2 tablespoons), cream cheese (4 ounces), pimento cheese (12 ounces), and green onions (2 tablespoons). Use a handheld electric mixer and beat to combine evenly.
Using a cookie scoop, scoop out 1 1/2-inch balls and arrange on a prepared baking sheet.
Bake in preheated oven until lightly golden and firm, 14 to 17 minutes.
Notes
No Bisquick? There’s no need to suffer an unfulfilled sausage ball craving just because you don’t have Bisquick in the pantry! You can make Sausage Balls without Bisquick. Substitute 2 cups of flour, 3 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 2 tablespoons butter.
Pork Safety– We’re using raw pork, so you’ve got to make sure you use safe pork handling practices. Check the temperature (should be 160° F) of your sausage balls before you pull them from the oven- particularly if you’re making from frozen. They’ll fool you by getting brown on the outside before they’re done in the middle!
