These pimento cheese sausage balls are rich, savory, and packed with bold Southern flavor — a heartier, more flavorful twist on the classic version.
The pimento cheese adds a tangy, cheesy bite, while the texture is slightly denser and richer than traditional sausage balls, with a soft, creamy interior. They’re perfect for game day, holiday parties, or anytime you want an appetizer with a little more personality.

PIMENTO CHEESE SAUSAGE BALLS INGREDIENTS
Sausage: I use Jimmy Dean’s breakfast sausage, regular.
Cream cheese: What is a sausage ball without cream cheese?
Heavy cream: Some creamy liquid to help all the other ingredients combine well.
Bisquick: The base of the beloved sausage ball.
Pimento cheese: This tub of cheese is so good. Of course, you can make your own too.
Green Onions
What Makes These Sausage Balls Different?
These sausage balls have a slightly different texture than both classic and cream cheese versions, which is part of what makes them so good.
- Bisquick sausage balls tend to be a bit crumbly
- Sausage balls with cream cheese are softer and more tender
- Pimento cheese sausage balls are richer, slightly denser, and packed with bold flavor
That combination makes them feel a little more substantial — perfect for parties and game day spreads.
STORING + FREEZING + MAKE-AHEAD
How Long Can You Keep This in The Fridge?
Once made, your pimento cheese sausage balls will last up to four days in the fridge.
Can You Freeze This?
It is not recommended to freeze.
Make-Ahead:
These pimento cheese sausage balls can be warmed up either in the microwave oven or the conventional oven.
TIPS
- No Bisquick? There’s no need to suffer an unfulfilled sausage ball craving just because you don’t have Bisquick in the pantry! You can make Sausage Balls without Bisquick. Substitute 2 cups of flour, 3 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 2 tablespoons butter.
- Pork Safety– We’re using raw pork, so you’ve got to make sure you use safe pork handling practices. Check the temperature (should be 160° F) of your sausage balls before you pull them from the oven- particularly if you’re making from frozen. They’ll fool you by getting brown on the outside before they’re done in the middle!
SERVING RECOMMENDATIONS
These are great all on their own, but who doesn’t love a little dipping sauce? My favorite dipping sauce is pimento cheese (yes a cheese on cheese thing!) or Carolina gold BBQ sauce. They’re also delicious with honey mustard dipping sauce, awesome sauce, or just plain ranch dressing!
