Ingredients

  • 4 bone-in pork shoulder steaks about 2 1/2 to 3 pounds total
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth Seasoning Blend
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon table salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F. Lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  • Pat the pork steaks dry with paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and brown sugar.
  • Rub the pork steaks with olive oil, then coat all sides with the seasoning blend.
  • Spread the sliced onions across the bottom of the baking dish. Scatter the garlic over the onions.
  • Arrange the pork steaks on top of the onions.
  • Pour the chicken broth around the sides of the pan, being careful not to wash the seasoning off the pork.
  • Cover tightly with heavy-duty foil.
  • Bake for 2 hours.
  • Remove the foil and continue baking for 20-30 minutes, or until the pork is fork-tender and reaches an internal temperature of at least 195°F in the thickest portion.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Spoon the onions and pan juices over the pork before serving.
