Cake mix cookies are always a big hit in our house. Everyone loves the taste and I love the convenience the cake mix provides. And they’re so easy, there’s no need to pull out a stand mixer!

We all need a festive dessert on the fourth of July. This is a go-to for me. It’s a perfect party treat and everyone loves the soft texture and red, and blue sprinkles of course!

Ingredients For Fireworks Cookies
- vanilla or white cake mix
- eggs
- vegetable oil
- vanilla extract
- vanilla or white almond bark
- sprinkles
Tips
- Be Gentle! Cake mix cookies tend to be very delicate. Make sure they are completely cooled before attempting to dip them in the chocolate. Handle with care!
- Cookie Scoop: Use a small cookie scoop, generously filled, to shape the cookie dough.
- Spacing dough: These fourth of July decorated cookies will spread as they bake so be sure to space each cookie dough ball a minimum of 2 inches apart on the cookie sheet.
- Cookie Color: If you want to color the cookies red and blue, divide the dough and use gel food coloring to do so. Add a bit at a time to get the exact shade you’re looking for.

- How Long Can You Keep This In The Fridge? These fourth of July sugar cookies can be stored in the fridge for a week.
- Can You Freeze These? Yes, these 4th of July cookies can last in the freezer for 8 months.
- Make-Ahead Tips: If you have lots of recipes to make on the 4th, mix the dough ingredients ahead, and store it in the fridge for 1-2 days or 4-6 months in the freezer. Make sure to wrap it well with saran wrap and or store it in an airtight container to prevent it from drying.
Variations For These Treats
- Frosting Instead? If you don’t want to use vanilla or white almond bark use vanilla frosting instead.
- Flavoring: Add 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon of either lemon or almond extract to the batter when you add the vanilla extract.
- White Chocolate: Mix 1 cup of white chocolate chips into the batter.
- M&M’s: Keep the theme going by adding 1 cup of red, white, and blue M&M’s to the batter and press a few extra on the top of each dough ball before baking.
- Festive Ice Cream Sandwiches: Sandwich a scoop of vanilla ice cream between these cookies. Just remember the cookies can be fragile so create this variation gently.
How to Make 4th Of July Cake Mix Cookies
- Make the dough. Stir all the dough ingredients in a large bowl. Chill.
- Scoop the dough into balls and place them on the baking sheet.
- Bake. Then chill the cookies.
- Melt the almond bark.
- Dip half of the chilled cookies in the almond bark. Add sprinkles.
- Enjoy.

4th Of July Cake Mix Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 box vanilla or white cake mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 12 ounces vanilla/white almond bark
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles of choice
Instructions
- In a large bowl, add the cake mix (1 box), eggs (2), vegetable oil (1/3 cup), and vanilla (1 teaspoon). Stir until well incorporated.
- Chill the dough for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- When the dough is done chilling, scoop the dough into 1- to 1 ½-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes in the preheated oven. Do not overbake.
- Let the cookies cool completely before the next step (important).
- Melt the almond bark (12 ounces) in a large bowl in the microwave at 30-second intervals until it is smooth and creamy.
- Dip half of a cooled cookie into the melted almond bark. Immediately add the sprinkles of your choice. *Handle the cookies with care as they tend to be delicate*.
- Let the almond bark set naturally or pop the cookies into the refrigerator to set faster.
- Enjoy with your favorite glass of milk.
