Our Texas Roadhouse Green Beans recipe is a family favorite and tastes just like the restaurant version — maybe even better. Made with canned green beans, bacon, onions, garlic, chicken broth, a touch of brown sugar, and a splash of vinegar for that signature “zing,” this savory side dish has just the right balance of smoky and slightly sweet.
If you love ordering these every time you visit Texas Roadhouse, this easy copycat version brings those same bold flavors to your own kitchen.

Copycat Texas Roadhouse Green Beans Ingredients
- Canned Green Beans: Use fresh cut style and your favorite brand.
- Bacon: Any type works well, but I prefer thick cut and smoked, giving the dish a smokey hint of flavor
- Onions: Yellow or sweet onion is recommended
- Garlic: Fresh garlic is preferred or powdered will work in the pinch
- Chicken Broth: Low-sodium or regular, or vegetable broth can be used.
- Brown Sugar: The use of light brown sugar gives the dish depth.
- Salt + Pepper: Sea salt and fresh cracked pepper
- Apple Cider Vinegar: The addition of vinegar adds to the flavor profile of the beans in the very best way. You can choose other vinegars like red wine or white. I would not recommend balsamic because it will overpower the other ingredients.
- Butter: Unsalted butter is preferred. You can add salt to taste.
Tips
- Canned, Really? YES!! This Texas Roadhouse style green beans is so straightforward and easy. This recipe calls for canned green beans not only for convenience, but I like the briny taste of canned green beans.
- Of course, you are welcome to use fresh or frozen. Just cook the fresh green beans a little before adding it to the pan. If frozen, thaw them first.
- More Zing?! Try adding a splash of apple cider when you add the chicken broth.
- Fried Onions: Did someone say onions? While not original to Texas Roadhouse beans, a sprinkle of French’s® Original Crispy Fried Onions are fabulous on top!
