Quick, easy, and totally hands-off— air fryer hard boiled eggs are the only way to go if you’re making a large batch. Consistent, creamy results every time. When the boiling part of the process isn’t actually hard at all, you can have more fun with what happens next.
My classic deviled eggs, deviled eggs with capers, ranch deviled eggs, or macaroni salad with egg are just the beginning of what you can use these cooked eggs for.
Air Fryer Hard Boiled Egg Recipe
I love a good hard boiled egg. Egg salad? Yes, please. Did you say deviled? I’ve made more variations in one spring than some people do in a lifetime. They’re delicious in potato salad!
I also like them for breakfast, plain and simple with just a sprinkle of salt and pepper. They’re a great source of protein and vitamin D. When I’m feeling fancy, I’ll add a drizzle of ranch and some everything but the bagel seasoning. It’s my favorite go-to breakfast.
What I don’t love is boiling eggs. This recipe doesn’t even use a pot of water! I’ve tried different timing methods, ice baths, rubber timers—it’s just so inconsistent. This method is fool-proof and they’re even peeled easily. I’ll never look back.
It’s easy to make a batch for a recipe or to have on hand for a quick breakfast. Pop the eggs in the air fryer set the timer, and you’re set.
Go on and give them a fry.

How Long Does It Take To Hard Boil Eggs In An Air Fryer?
Generally, 13-18 minutes, depending on your desired doneness, your specific air fryer model (air fryers temperatures vary), whether you preheat the air fryer, and temperature of the eggs. I like mine cooked for 16 minutes.
For soft or medium hard boiled eggs, reduce the cooking time.
Do I Need To Use An Ice Bath?
No, it’s not absolutely necessary. That said, I do indeed use an ice water bath. It stops the cooking process immediately and the yolks stay perfectly cooked. Place the cooked eggs in the ice bath for 5 minutes.
Ingredients
- Large eggs
Tips
- Water – No need for boiling water!
- Cook Times – Keep in mind that every air fryer cooks differently, and some models might take longer or less time to cook. In this recipe, I used a 5.8 Quart 1700 Watt air fryer, and the time on this recipe is calculated to cook 4 cold eggs (taken from the fridge). If you want to cook more or fewer pieces, you’ll have to adjust the time.
- Also, the eggs’ temperature plays a part in the cooking time. Eggs at room temperature will cook faster than eggs that are taken directly from the fridge. I encourage you to test your air fryer with 1 or 2 eggs first to check the egg consistency results, and then you can adjust the time according to your preference.
- Remove – Use tongs or oven mitts to avoid burns when removing from the air frying basket.
- Wire Rack – If you have an air fryer rack you can use it.
How To Store
- How Long Can You Keep This In The Refrigerator? Either peeled or unpeeled, these can be refrigerated for up to one week.
