If you’re looking for an easy summer drink that’s light, fruity, and perfect for sharing, this Hippie Juice Recipe is it. It’s sweet, refreshing, and made with simple ingredients that come together fast for BBQs, pool days, parties, and casual warm-weather get-togethers.
What makes this recipe work is how easy and crowd-friendly it is. It has that fun, fruity punch-style flavor readers love, but it’s still simple enough to mix up without any fuss — the kind of drink that disappears fast once everyone has a glass.
If you’re planning a party, you might also love my Planters Punch, Jungle Bird, or a fun batch-style favorite like Apple Pie Moonshine.

What Is Hippie Juice?
Hippie Juice is a sweet, fruity summer cocktail made with watermelon vodka, lemonade, triple sec, fresh fruit, and sometimes a splash of rum. It’s light, refreshing, and easy to make in a big batch, which is why it’s such a popular drink for BBQs, pool days, parties, and warm-weather get-togethers.
One of the best things about Hippie Juice is how simple and portable it is. You don’t need a blender or any fancy equipment — just mix everything in a large pitcher, drink dispenser, or lidded container, chill it well, and serve. Give it a good stir or gentle shake before pouring, and you’re ready to go.
✨ Before You Begin
✨ This is a true party drink: Hippie Juice makes a generous batch, which makes it perfect for BBQs, pool days, potlucks, and warm-weather get-togethers.
✨ No blender needed: You don’t need any special equipment for this recipe — just a large pitcher, drink dispenser, or clean gallon jug with a lid.
✨ It’s easy to transport: If you’re taking it to a party, mix it in a sealed container and keep it chilled until serving.
✨ Shake or stir before serving: The ingredients can settle as it sits, so give it a good stir or gentle shake before pouring.
What I Love About This Recipe
This Hippie Juice Recipe is sweet, fruity, and wonderfully refreshing on a hot day.
It’s easy to make in a big batch, so it’s perfect for summer parties, BBQs, pool days, and casual get-togethers.
The fresh fruit soaks up all that sweet cocktail flavor, so every glass comes with a little boozy fruit treat at the end.

Hippie Juice Ingredients + Key Notes
Watermelon vodka: Gives this drink its signature fruity summer flavor.
Malibu rum: Adds a light coconut flavor that makes the drink feel tropical and fun.
Triple sec: Brings a sweet orange note that balances the lemonade and fruit.
Pink lemonade: The main mixer. It keeps the drink sweet, tart, bright, and refreshing.
Water: Helps lighten the cocktail so it’s easy to sip.
Strawberries, lemon, and raspberries: Fresh fruit makes the drink pretty, flavorful, and party-ready.
Mint: Optional, but it adds a fresh finish that makes the whole drink feel extra refreshing.
Can You Make Low-Calorie Hippie Juice?
Yes, you can make Hippie Juice a little lighter by using sugar-free pink lemonade mix or a lower-sugar lemonade. Just keep in mind that this is still an alcoholic cocktail, not a health drink, so it’s best enjoyed in moderation.
If you use sugar-free lemonade, the flavor may be slightly different depending on the brand. I recommend mixing a small test glass first, then adjusting the lemonade, water, or fruit to taste before making the full batch.

How Do You Make a Single Serving of Hippie Juice?
Hippie Juice is easiest to make as a big-batch cocktail, but you can absolutely make one glass when you want a smaller serving.
For one serving, combine:
4 ounces lemonade
1 ounce watermelon vodka
1/2 ounce Malibu rum
1/2 ounce triple sec
Shake or stir well, then serve over ice. Garnish with fresh strawberries, raspberries, lemon slices, or mint if you like.
Can You Make Non-Alcoholic Hippie Juice?
Yes! You can make a fun non-alcoholic version of Hippie Juice by replacing the alcohol with fruit juices.
Use watermelon juice in place of the watermelon vodka, white grape juice or apple juice in place of the Malibu rum, and orange juice in place of the triple sec. Mix everything with pink lemonade, fresh fruit, and plenty of ice for a sweet, fruity party drink everyone can enjoy.

Hippie Juice
Ingredients
- 1 cup watermelon vodka
- 1/3 cup Malibu Rum
- 1/3 cup Triple Sec
- 4 scoops Country Time pink lemonade mix
- 4 cups water
- 1-3 cups strawberries sliced
- 1 lemon sliced and quartered
- 1 cup raspberries
- 4 sprigs fresh mint
Instructions
- Add watermelon vodka (1 cup), Malibu rum (1/3 cup), Triple Sec (1/3 cup), lemonade powder (4 scoops), and water (4 cups) in a pitcher and stir until lemonade dissolves. Add fruit and serve over ice.
Notes
- Make it Portable – Yes, you can make this drink portable! As I mentioned, you can just carry the ingredients along to wherever the party is and shake it up when you get there. Bring a gallon jug or a half-gallon juice container along; you can even put everything but the alcohol in ahead of time!
- Add the fruit and the spirits when you’re ready to serve. Peace out, friends!
- Drink Responsibly – I know I don’t need to tell you that. However, what I mean to say is that this recipe goes down soooo easy – it’s light, smooth, and tastes so refreshing that you might be tempted to drink it quickly! Fight the urge, my friends!
- Make it Pretty – Just because you’re mixing your drink on the go doesn’t mean you can’t make it look gorgeous. You can make a Hippie Juice recipe Facebook-worthy by adding a sprig of mint to the glass, serving over ice, and pouring over a few extra raspberries.

I can’t get powered pink lemonade….
Would you recommend powdered lemonade (regular yellow), raspberry lemonade (powered) or frozen concentrate pink lemonade?
Hi Victoria. I would use either the powdered yellow lemonade of the powdered raspberry lemonade. You can’t go wrong with either choice. Skip the frozen concentrate in this recipe.
This is so yummy! I added fresh lemon juice and a small can of pineapple juice. Awesome! We also made a huge batch to freeze in adult Capri sun bags for camping and they were great that way too. Thanks for the recipe!
You’re so welcome, Jen. I love your “adult Capri Suns” idea. Thanks for sharing!!
can you make this and can it in mason jars [seal in hot water] to be drank in a few months
Hi Bobby. I have not canned this so I’m unable to advice. Very sorry!
Yes I would like to know if I would be able to use new Amsterdam pink Whitney vodka pink lemonade flavor and use Hawaiian punch the blue one and mix those 2 together would they mix well
Hi Buddy. Gosh, I’m not sure about the sweetness. I would try to make a small amount and test it out! Best of Luck!!!
Making this today for my camping trip. Thanks for the recipe.
That’s perfect! Happy camping, Tami!
If one does not like watermelon flavored vodka, what other flavored vodka would do well.
You can use plain vodka, pineapple vodka, or even vanilla vodka. I hope you enjoy 🙂
The recipie says 4 scoops of powdered mix….the jar only comes with 1 quart and 2 quart markings in the lid…which mark do i use?
Thanks in advance
Hi, Cyndi! I read somewhere that a scoop of Country time is equivalent to 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons. For 4 scoops, you need 10.66 or just round it off to 11 tablespoons. That’s 0.17 quarts. Hope this helps!
Thank you Kathleen !!! This is Perfect for our Swingers party this weekend so I used your very handy chart to figure out what i would need for it to serve 40 people and its PERFECT!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! For the pansy who posted negativity, just because you didn’t care to take time to read everything doesn’t mean you could scroll through till you found the actual recipe duh! Please go be rude to someone who deserves it because this lady is AWESOME!!!!
How do I get to the chart. I can’t seem to find it and need a larger batch to make for Saturday.
Hi Lakota! Just adjust the serving size on the recipe card ❤️. Hope this helps!
I got tired of reading, No longer want to try hippy juice. Why can’t you put the ingredients at the beginning so some don’t have to read boring dribble?
Hi Dave. Gosh, I’m sorry to hear you’re unhappy with my article. Did you perhaps see, at the very top of the post, the large gray button that says, “Jump To Recipe”? I installed it on every post so that if you don’t want to read the article you can simply, easily, go directly to the recipe. Hope this helps <3
Sorry some are unhappy. But I’m so excited to try this recipe this weekend with my friend who’s visiting from out of town!! Thanks!! Xo
Thank you so much, Jillian! 😀 Enjoy!
Kathleen, evidently Dave didn’t see the Big Grey Box that says Jump To Recipe! Because if he had he wouldn’t have posted what he said
Thank you!❤️
I’m happy Dave no longer wants Hippie Juice. There is more for the rest of us! I love your article and the recipe. Hippie Juice is my go-to drink. And I love how it is flexible. I didn’t feel like vodka today so I swapped the watermelon vodka with watermelon rum this time. Other times I skip the triple sec and use orange juice.
I look forward to seeing more articles and recipes. <3

Cheers, Kate! Thank you for your positive review. I gotta try your tweaks soon! 🙂
*this is for Dave*
I’m not sure what boring dribble you’re referring to, but I read an amazing BLOG POST on a hippie juice that personally I’m now very excited to try, thanks to Kathleen! Have a great day Dave!
Thank you for your support, Destiny <3
Made this yesterday for a gals Mother’s Day celebration with my aunt, and WOW!!??
So happy you enjoyed! <3
gurl I need your help. It says 4 scoops well this s I bought has a top that is the scooper. Measure to the 1st line and it says 1 qt. Measure to the 2nd line and it says 2 qts. So I’m very confused you mean I gotta put 4 scoops of this in there and what line the 1st or 2nd.. that just seems like it will be a lot of lemonade for what little bit of liquor this recipes call for.. 4 scoops to the 2 at line would make 6 qts of lemonade… I would never get a buzz off this making it this way… very confused please help I wanna take to the beach this weekend. I have everything just don’t know how to mix it with this big scooper cap
Hi Harley Halo. So the container I used had a small scoop inside. 4 scoops of that size are 2/3 cup of the mix and when water is added it makes 2 quarts. So just use a measuring cup and use 2/3 c of the mix instead of the scoops. Hope you enjoy! <3
When you say 4 scoops how big is the scoop….my lemonade didnt come with a scoop it came with the measuring lid.
Hey Kirsten! I totally understand the debacle with the measuring lid. I believe it equals out to about 1/3 cup of the Country Time Pink Lemonade and the recipe calls for 4 cups of water. Hope you enjoy!
When you say 4 scoops how big is the scoop….my lemonade didnt come with a scoop it came with the measuring lid. Also how much water?
I Absolutely love this drink it is very refreshing on these t hot summer nights camping. I did replace the Watermelon vodka with watermelon snaps it is absolutely delicious also.

Hi, Quin! So glad you like this! Super refreshing, right? Thanks for the rating! 🙂
Can I switch it up and add more Malibu and less Vodka? It sounds delish! Making this for my next camping trip for sure!!
Hey Crystal! Sure you can. It will be delish!! Happy camping <3
Can I use strawberries and peaches instead of lemon and raspberries????
Sure Can!
Trying this tonight! Can I make it ahead of time without the ice so not to water it down!?
Yes! 🙂
Loved it. Very refreshing and not too sweet! Made exactly as written and drank every drop
Thank you, Sherri! Glad you enjoyed!:) <3
