Our Brazilian lemonade is a creamy, sweet, and slightly tart drink that’s perfect on hot summer days. When you’re looking for the perfect refreshing drink that’s family-friendly, this is your answer.
4 ingredients blended together and poured over ice. It couldn’t be simpler to put together. Great for family pool parties, BBQs, and any summer supper!
Our family loves sharing fun drinks that make every day feel special. Our lime rickey is a classic, vintage mocktail, and crockpot hot chocolate is made on repeat, whenever the weather is cold!
What Is Brazilian Lemonade?
This is a popular drink served fresh all over Brazil. Why is it called lemonade, when it’s made with limes, and not a single lemon? Well, in the Portuguese language, the word limão, refers to both limes and lemons.
Ironically, in Brazil, this drink is called Swiss lemonade. Seriously? Yes. The reason for this is because one of the fundamental ingredients in the recipe is sweetened condensed milk, which in Portugal is marketed by a Swiss company that has a Swiss milkmaid icon on the can.
Brazilian Lemonade Ingredients
- Limes: Try to find ripe and juicy limes. Be sure to wash them, because they will be added peel and all to the recipe.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: This ingredient is fundamental to the recipe, don’t substitute it with anything else.
- Sugar: Granulated sugar.
- Cold Water: I like to ice water in a pitcher, then drain out the ice before and measure before adding it to the recipe.
Storing
- How Long Can You Keep This In The Fridge? I have to say that I really prefer this made fresh. It literally takes only minutes! If you choose to store it, it will keep in the fridge for up to 3-5 days.

Hi Kathleen! Greetings from Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦!
I just want to confirm that we are supposed to put entire limes, rind, seeds, and all, into the blender? Should they be cut into halves or quarters first?
Many thanks. Summer IS coming 🤞, though we have been known to get 3′ of very wet snow…in JUNE! 😱

Hi, Terry! Thanks for asking, I updated it. Yes, include the rind. Remove the seeds and cut each lime into 8 pieces. 🙂
Gotta prepare for summer!
