SAUSAGE CREAM CHEESE CRESCENTS INGREDIENTS
- Crescent roll dough: I use Pillsbury’s brand.
- Sausage: I suggest Jimmy Dean’s breakfast sausage roll, regular. But you can use any brand, Italian sausage, or turkey sausage.
- Pepper jack cheese: I prefer pepper jack to add a kick, but Monterey jack can be used.
- Cream cheese: This ingredient makes the filling sing.
- Green onions: I added this ingredient for brightness and flavor.
- Garlic powder: This really helps round out the flavor of the filling.
TIPS
- Any Sausage: Use any sausage you prefer, just make sure it is not too fatty.
- Stuff ‘Em: The crescent rolls will vary in size, so I used between 1 and 1 1/2 tablespoons of filling depending upon the size of the dough.
- It’s okay if the filling comes out of the crescent. Just use a utensil and gently push the filling back in the roll when you remove the tray from the oven to make it pretty. It’s really not necessary though. They will be devoured in minutes either way!

Sausage Cream Cheese Crescents
Ingredients
- 2 (8-ounce) tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 pound Jimmy Dean's sausage
- 1 cup pepper jack cheese, shredded
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons green onions (mostly white part), finely minced
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375ºF (177ºC). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.
- In a 12-inch skillet, over medium-high heat, brown and crumble the sausage (1 pound). When sausage is cooked through, and there is no longer any pink, transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Dab the top of the sausage with a double layer of paper towels to remove more excess grease. Allow the sausage to cool.
- Combine the cooked and cooled sausage, softened cream cheese (8 ounces), pepper jack cheese (1 cup), green onions (2 tablespoons), and garlic powder (1/2 teaspoon) in a large mixing bowl. Using a hand-held electric mixer set on medium speed, cream the mixture until evenly combined.
- Pop the crescent roll tube and unroll. Separate the dough into individual triangles along the perforations and cut each one in half vertically from the tip.
- Place a dollop of 1-1/2 tablespoons of sausage mixture at the wide end of the triangles.
- Starting at the wide end, roll up the crescents, wrapping the filling securely. Arrange on the prepared rimmed baking sheet.
- Bake in preheated oven until the crescents are golden brown, about 12-15 minutes (mine were perfectly cooked at 15 minutes). Serve warm!

These are great. Do you think I could make them ahead of time without baking them? Just throw them in the oven before people get here?
