What Is Crack Dip?
If you are scouring the web for yummy dip recipes with cream cheese, you can put down the mouse! Crack dip will scratch that comfort food itch that comes knocking like clockwork on dreary mid-winter days.
Appropriately named for its addictive tendencies, the dip is made by mixing up our favorite comfort flavors – ranch, cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, and bacon!
What Ingredients Do You Need To Make Crack Dip?
- Cream Cheese
- Mayonnaise
- Sour Cream
- Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- Bacon
- Ranch Dressing Mix
Recipe Notes for Crack Dip:
- Crack dip with sausage: You can substitute browned and crumbled sausage for the bacon in the dip if you so desire! This variation has a meatier flavor and less of a crunch.
- Other variations: Another twist on this cream cheese dip for crackers involves turning up the heat. Add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper or chili powder, or a handful of green chilies for a crack with a kick!
- Bacon selection: Really any brand of American style (cured, smoked, and crunchy!) bacon will do.
- Cheese selection: Strongly flavored cheeses are the way to go here. Use an aged sharp cheddar, or experiment with other flavorful options like Monterey Jack and Gouda.
Storing + Freezing + Make-Ahead
- How Long Can You Keep This In The Fridge? Place this in an airtight container and store it in the fridge for 3-4 days.
- Can You Freeze This? Recommendations are mixed here. In general, it’s a bad idea to freeze cream cheese, but with the high-fat content of this dip, you will most likely be able to get away with it for a couple of weeks.
- Pour the mixture into an airtight container and seal carefully. Thaw the dip overnight in the fridge the evening before you plan to serve it, and stir the mixture frequently as you reheat it. While the dip will be safe to eat if frozen for longer than a couple of weeks, be prepared for some changes to the texture.

What Do You Serve With Crack Dip?
This hot cream cheese dip goes great with just about any sort of chip or cracker, even totally flavorless ones! I suggest a plain grain chip!
Fresh veggies like carrots, cucumber, and broccoli are another delicious option (and a nice counterbalance to the rich dip). It can also be used to stuff baked potatoes!

Outstanding and worthy of it’s name. I love that this version uses cream cheese, sour cream (I substituted plain Greek yogurt). Not to mention you cannot beat real BACON! I’m pretty sure I have lost two friends due this dip. They could not get enough! 🙂
That’s so great Dawn! I’m so happy to hear you and your friends enjoyed! <3
