What Ingredients Do You Need To Make Crack Dip?
The base of my lip-smacking crack dip recipe is made with room temperature cream cheese mixed with mayo, sour cream, and a packet of ranch dressing. AKA every delicious white colored ingredient!
Shredded sharp cheddar cheese and bacon pieces are mixed in for some extra pizazz. You can top the dip with more chopped or crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar, and sliced green onion. My mouth is watering already!
How Do You Make Crack Dip?
The prep work for this bacon cream cheese dip is ten minutes or less, not bad considering the joy factor. Just mix everything together, bake, add the toppings, and gobble! The bacon can be made in the microwave, and green onions are notoriously easy to slice.
Step By Step: How To Make Crack Dip
1. Preheat oven. Slice the cooked bacon.
2. In a large bowl, add all the ingredients.
3. Mix all the ingredients and pour it in a 2-quart baking dish. Bake.

Recipe Notes for Crack Dip:
Crack dip with sausage: You can substitute browned and crumbled sausage for the bacon in the dip if you so desire! This variation has a meatier flavor and less of a crunch.
Other variations: Another twist on this cream cheese dip for crackers involves turning up the heat. Add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper or chili powder, or a handful of green chilies for crack with a kick!
Bacon selection: Really any brand of American style (cured, smoked, and crunchy!) bacon will do. Check out Bacon Scout’s “Types of Bacon” article for more bacon facts!
Cheese selection: Strongly flavored cheeses are the way to go here. Use an aged sharp cheddar, or experiment with other flavorful options like Monterey Jack and Gouda.
Can You Make Crack Dip Ahead Of Time?
Yes — you can prepare this classic ranch dip recipe for chips just under a week in advance! Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for optimal freshness and food safety (and to hide your eyes from temptation!)
How Do You Freeze Crack Dip?
Recommendations are mixed here. In general, it’s a bad idea to freeze cream cheese, but with the high-fat content of this dip, you will most likely be able to get away with it for a couple weeks.
Pour the mixture into an airtight container and seal carefully. Thaw the dip overnight in the fridge the evening before you plan to serve it, and stir the mixture frequently as you reheat it.
While the dip will be safe to eat if frozen for longer than a couple weeks, be prepared for some changes to the texture.
What Do You Serve With Crack Dip?
This hot cream cheese dip goes great with just about any sort of chip or cracker, even totally flavorless ones! I suggest a plain grain chip!
Fresh veggies like carrots, cucumber, and broccoli are another delicious option (and a nice counterbalance to the rich dip). It can also be used to stuff baked potatoes!

Outstanding and worthy of it’s name. I love that this version uses cream cheese, sour cream (I substituted plain Greek yogurt). Not to mention you cannot beat real BACON! I’m pretty sure I have lost two friends due this dip. They could not get enough! 🙂
