If you love easy, family-style comfort food like my Johnny Marzetti Casserole or Hamburger Casserole, you’re going to flip for this Pierogi Casserole. It’s every bit as creamy and satisfying as Creamy Chicken Potato Casserole or Chicken and Dumpling Casserole, but with a fun twist — cheesy pierogies layered with smoky kielbasa and Alfredo sauce.
So grab your casserole dish — this one’s bound to become a regular at your dinner table. 💗
Do You Have To Boil Pierogies Before Baking?
Nope! That’s one of the best parts of this recipe — there’s no need to thaw or boil the pierogies before baking. Just layer them straight from the freezer into your casserole dish, add your sauce, cheese, and sausage, and let the oven do all the work. They bake up tender and perfectly cooked every time.
✨ Before You Begin
✨ No boiling required: You can use frozen pierogies straight from the bag — no need to thaw or boil!
✨ Add flavor with browning: If you have a few extra minutes, brown the kielbasa slices in a skillet before layering. It deepens the flavor beautifully.
✨ Choose a good Alfredo sauce: A quality sauce makes a big difference — look for one made with real cream, butter, and Parmesan.
✨ Use two cheeses: Mozzarella gives you that stretchy pull, while cheddar adds sharpness and depth.
✨ Spray your foil: Always spray one side of your foil with nonstick spray so the cheese doesn’t stick while baking.

Alfredo sauce: Adds creamy richness. You can use homemade or your favorite jarred brand.
-
Kielbasa sausage: Smoked Polish sausage adds saltiness and flavor depth.
-
Green onions: Fresh, mild bite that balances the richness.
-
Cheese blend: A mix of mozzarella and cheddar gives you both melt and flavor.
Pro Tips
⭐ Use a mix of cheeses for texture. Mozzarella gives you stretch; cheddar adds punch. You can also toss in a little Parmesan for extra savoriness.
⭐ Want more veggies? Stir in a handful of baby spinach or frozen peas between layers for color and freshness.
⭐ Add a crispy topping. For a little crunch, sprinkle buttered breadcrumbs or crushed Ritz crackers over the top during the last 10 minutes of baking.
⭐ Make it ahead. Assemble the casserole earlier in the day, refrigerate, then bake an extra 10–15 minutes to heat through.

Ooooh boy! It’s 3:45am, and I have just drooled all over my phone screen at the pics of this recipe. And gained 5# 😧. Not quite sure if I should thank you, or curse at you for this recipe. Guess the deciding factor will be if I buy pierogis when I go shopping later today. I already have everything else.
Maybe I’ll have to flip a coin, once I get to the frozen food section 🤞😬
