The best snack on the picnic table—and it’s stress-free? That does feel like a million bucks.
Let’s make this!
Before You Start ✨
-
Toast the almonds: Don’t skip this! A quick toast brings out a buttery crunch that makes the dip irresistible.
-
Grate your own cheese: Skip the pre-shredded stuff. Freshly grated cheddar and Swiss melt smoother and give a creamier dip.
-
Quality counts: Use a good mayonnaise brand like Best Foods or Duke’s for the best flavor.
-
Make ahead friendly: Mix it up and let the flavors meld in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.
-
Crowd pleaser: Great for last-minute plans—this dip feels fancy but takes almost no effort.
✨Why This Recipe Works ✨
✨ Ultra rich + creamy: Four kinds of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, blue cheese, and cream cheese) bring bold flavor and smooth texture.
✨ Savory crunch: Toasted slivered almonds add the perfect bite.
✨ Bacon everything: Smoky, salty bits balance all that cheesy richness.
✨ Weekend + Party perfect: Just stir, chill, and serve—it’s stress-free hosting.
Ingredients for Million Dollar Dip
- Cream Cheese: I use full-fat, regular cream cheese.
- Mayonnaise: Use a high-quality mayonnaise, such as Best Foods or Duke’s.
- Slivered Almonds: Don’t use a different cut of almonds. The slivered almonds give this dip fabulous texture!
- Sharp Cheddar Cheese: I like to use sharp or even extra sharp cheddar for the best cheddar flavor.
- Swiss Cheese: This adds a mellow, slightly nutty flavor.
- Blue Cheese Crumbles: Adds that salty, funky, delicious flavor!
- Precooked Bacon Bits: I use precooked bacon for convenience! Precooked bacon has come a long way since the early days of bacon bits!
- Green Onions: These add the perfect mild onion flavor to the dip.
- Salt + Black Pepper
- Garlic Powder: Adds a light garlic flavor.
- Cayenne Pepper: Add the spicy heat!
The Perfect Pairings for Million Dollar Dip
This rich and creamy dip shines on any appetizer table. Pair it with:
-
Fresh & Crisp: Celery, carrots, cucumbers, or bell pepper strips.
-
Crunchy Chips: Potato chips or tortilla chips.
-
Crackers & Bread: Ritz, buttery club crackers, or toasted baguette rounds.
-
Comfort Food Favorites: Serve alongside my KFC Coleslaw or warm Butter Swim Biscuits or Easy-Peasy Bisquick Biscuits for a spread everyone will love.
-
Sweet Finishes: Round out the table with a slice of my layered Possum Pie or creamy Million Dollar Pie, or a cozy slice of Pineapple Upside Down Cake.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this dip without blue cheese?
Yes! If you’re not a fan of blue cheese, you can simply leave it out or replace it with extra cheddar or Swiss. The dip will still be rich, creamy, and delicious.
Can I use fresh bacon instead of precooked?
Absolutely. Cook your bacon until crisp, drain well, and crumble before stirring into the dip. Freshly cooked bacon adds even more smoky flavor.
Can I serve Million Dollar Dip warm?
This dip is traditionally served chilled, but you can serve it at room temperature. Just don’t heat it in the oven or microwave—the mayonnaise base doesn’t hold up well to cooking.
Can I make this dip ahead of time?
Yes! This recipe is make-ahead friendly. Mix everything together, cover, and refrigerate for a few hours or up to a day before serving to let the flavors meld.

Storing + Freezing + Make-Ahead Tips
How to Store
- Keep Million Dollar Dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It stays fresh for 3–4 days—just give it a quick stir before serving.
Can You Freeze It?
- Nope—this dip doesn’t freeze well. Since it contains mayonnaise, the texture will separate once thawed. It’s best enjoyed fresh within the refrigerated time frame.
Make-Ahead Tips
- This recipe is perfect for prepping in advance! Simply mix everything together, cover tightly, and refrigerate until serving time. In fact, the flavors get even better after a few hours of chilling.
Food Safety
- Don’t leave the dip out at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If serving outdoors in warm weather, keep it chilled on ice to prevent spoilage. If you’d like more info on food safety, check out this link.
